My houseguest would like to say hi:
So, here I was reading up and planning to have guinea pigs, when this adorable guy arrived. He’s been a regular fixture for many weeks now since he first “dropped in” at the end of last year but I don’t think I’ve introduced him on my blog before.
He has previously belonged to at least 2 other households in my block. He’s getting on in years for a cat – we think he’s about 10 years old – but he can still cause enough mischief, between naps that is! I started out agreeing to look after him and feed him over a weekend in the winter, when his owners had serious problems and couldn’t look after him. Circumstances were such that they didn’t collect him after the weekend. They didn’t come back for a fortnight and by this time he was growing used to my flat and, I think, to more regular food and playtimes than he’d been getting.
We have come to an arrangement where I am the main person to feed him and look after him but he goes between my flat and is previous / other home. The couple that had him before are still in difficulties and can’t care for him. So it helps us all, I hope.
I love him. He’s surprisingly affectionate. He loves cuddles. He loves playing with his toy mouse. He usually likes being combed. He even “holds hands” tapping me gently with his paw then letting me take it in my hand.
He is enchanting to watch when he’s napping, curled up so comfortably and trustingly on the seat beside me, or even in my arms, purring softly, then snoring not so softly, body rising and falling with his breath, smiling (yes really), little pink paw pads uncurling as he stretches out from time to time.
He is bringing me lots of happiness and I love that I can care for him and make him feel safe.
I’m sorry for missing days again. I’ve decided I’m going to post for the days I can but probably not all of them. There’s a lot going on for me at the moment taking all my energy and when I can’t get out much it’s hard to find a photo each day. I don’t like giving up part way through but at least this way I’m not totally giving up!
Great thanks still go to Soul Seaker for creating this challenge. Even though I’m not doing all of it you’re still opening my eyes and making me smile at things I might not have noticed otherwise.
Today is “Fun” so here is a funny -especially for Lord of the Rings fans:
[Photo/ meme is not my own; it was sent to me, originally from funnypicsplus.com]
I must have had it on the brain since watching The Hobbit on TV the other night. It’s just my sense of humour. But I’ll stop there cause all the good puns Aragon already….
What a week, so here’s a little video just to make you smile. I’ll admit that finally getting to nap time sometimes is this exciting. This puppy loves his new bed here!
PS – not my video; thanks to Rumble Viral for the clip.
I know this is random but it was very cute and I thought it might make you smile.
A couple of weeks ago I shared a picture of a family of ducks on the river.
Well, passing that way again, I noticed the little family settled down for the evening on the river bank. Mummy duck seemed to have between ten and twelve ducklings! I wasn’t quite sure and didn’t want to get too close in case I should disturb them. Nevertheless mother duck certainly has her hands (wings?) full.
PS – Unfortunately the river gets very dirty in this spot. To my surprise the ducks actually seem to enjoy eating the green algae that grows on the surface!
Just a little lighter-hearted anecdote…
If you’ve read “Not working out” you’ll know that I’m looking for a new job at the moment; something that I can do part time and that I might find less mentally stressful and less triggering to my obsessional thoughts and voices.
I’ve applied in several stores and I went to an interview today for a sales assistant position in a family / fashion high street shoe store. I always try to do some preparation before an interview to find out about the business but I have to say that in this case I was totally unprepared for this question out of the blue, “So, what did we do in the War?” ! Not your typical interview question when applying to work in a shop?!
Just wondering if any of you have any funny / puzzling interview stories? I enjoy these unexpected and funny sides of every day life no matter how small. They give a bit of lighter-heartedness and make us laugh even when things are rough. Which is important to hold on to.
A psychiatrist once told me that when we struggle with anxiety, it is like a bucket filling up faster and faster with water inside us and weighing us down or we feel we are drowning under it. We can’t tip the bucket over and we can’t stop the flow of water when we’re struggling with anxiety and depression and fear but we can do little things to punch holes in the bucket and let some of the water drain out so that we can live a little bit more easily. Humour is one of the things that’s good at punching holes in the bucket.
(And in case you were wondering, the answer to today’s question was that they made Army boots. Didn’t get that one right but some of the rest of the interview went okay and even felt like a good conversation in places, dare I say it, so perhaps I can hold out some hope. I’ll find out next week.)
Wishing you as good a day as possible. (Perhaps I’m practising for my store job. “Have a nice day now…” ;-)….)
